Rohit Sharma recently retired from playing T20 International cricket. He didn’t participate in the cricket matches against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in July. Instead, he’s preparing for India’s Test matches. India hopes to reach the World Test Championship final for the third time in a row in 2025. Rohit has already played in two finals and wants to win the championship this time.

Rohit Sharma Wimbledon Appearance

Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, made a stylish appearance at Wimbledon 2024. He attended the semi-final match between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev looking very sharp in a smart black suit and cool sunglasses. Wimbledon’s official social media warmly welcomed him.

Just a month ago, Rohit led Team India to a big win at the T20 World Cup, marking India’s first ICC title in 11 years. They faced challenges like a hurricane in Barbados, which delayed their return home until July 2nd, when they received a joyous welcome in India.

During a break from India’s current T20I series against Zimbabwe, Rohit, along with cricket stars like Sachin Tendulkar and Ben Stokes, took time to enjoy Wimbledon in the UK. After retiring from the T20 format following the World Cup victory, Rohit made the most of his time abroad. Wimbledon’s official social media shared a photo of him with the caption, “Welcome to Wimbledon, Rohit Sharma!”

Accompanying Sharma were India’s top squash players Deepika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal, each accompanied by their partners: former cricketer Dinesh Karthik and fellow squash player Diya Pallikal.

Dinesh Karthik, a former Indian cricketer, retired from all forms of cricket post the IPL 2024. Following his exclusion from India’s T20 World Cup squad, he made this decision. Karthik, now a commentator, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received.

He has since taken up coaching and mentoring roles, joining RCB in the IPL as their batting coach after a successful stint as a player. In IPL 2024, he stood out with 326 runs in 15 matches for RCB, averaging 36.22 and achieving a strike-rate of 187.35, including two half-centuries and a top score of 83.

Rohit Sharma Retires from T20 Cricket

After a standout performance in the recent T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma emerged as India’s top scorer with 257 runs, securing second place overall in the tournament. Despite a lower score in the final match, Rohit’s leadership was crucial as India claimed a thrilling seven-run victory against South Africa in Barbados.

Following this victory, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20 cricket during a press conference. He will continue to lead the team in the other formats, confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who also announced Rohit’s captaincy for the upcoming Champions Trophy and ongoing World Test Championship.

In related news, the BCCI appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of the Indian men’s team, succeeding Rahul Dravid. Gambhir will begin his tenure with the team’s upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka later this month.
