The plane landed safely in Srinagar, where passengers and crew were evacuated. After security checks, authorities declared the threat ‘non-credible’ and resumed normal operations at Srinagar Airport. The Air Traffic Control at Srinagar received the threatening call.

Flight UK611 took off from Delhi and landed at Srinagar Airport around noon on Friday. Following standard procedures, the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay upon arrival.

An airport official confirmed the threat was not credible and normal operations resumed. During security checks, one runway at Srinagar Airport was closed, leading other airlines to issue advisories to their passengers.

Runway Closure at Srinagar Airport Causes Flight Disruption

All passengers were safely de-boarded at the isolation bay, and the aircraft is currently undergoing a thorough security check by the relevant authorities to ensure everyone’s safety, according to an airport official.

During the security checks, Srinagar Airport closed a runway, causing other airlines to issue advisories to passengers. SpiceJet announced on X: “Due to a runway closure at Srinagar Airport (SXR), all departures and arrivals, as well as connecting flights, may be affected. Please check your flight status.”

IndiGo also posted an update: “Flights at Srinagar Airport (SXR) are impacted until 1430 hrs due to runway unavailability for security reasons. Check your flight status at https://bit.ly/3DNYJqj or contact our on-ground team for immediate assistance.”

Recent Bomb Threats

In recent weeks, numerous hospitals, schools, colleges, and airlines have faced bomb threats, all of which were hoaxes.

On May 28, IndiGo’s Delhi-Varanasi flight encountered a bomb scare when a tissue paper with “bomb@5.30” written on it was found in the lavatory. The threat was false.

On May 23, Delhi University colleges, including Lady Sri Ram College, Hansraj College, and Ramjas College, received bomb threats.

The same day, three hotels in Bengaluru also received bomb threats.

On May 22, a bomb threat was made against the North Block in Delhi, home to the office of the home ministry.

On May 15, at least 10 schools in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, received bomb threats.

On May 14, Tihar Jail received bomb threats via an email from a Cyprus-based mailing service.

On May 11, bomb threats targeted IGI Airport and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office.

On May 1, about 150 schools received bomb threats, causing widespread panic among students and parents. The threats were traced back to a Russia-based mailing service.
