PM Modi Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Skin Color Remarks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, for the controversial remarks made by party leader Sam Pitroda. Modi called Pitroda’s statement an insult to many people in India based on their skin color. Pitroda sparked controversy by suggesting that people in East India look like Chinese, while those in South India resemble Africans.

PM Modi expressed his anger during a rally in Telangana’s Warangal district, stating that he can handle insults directed at him but not at his people. He questioned whether one’s worth should be judged by their skin color, emphasizing that Indians, regardless of skin tone, worship Lord Krishna and uphold the Constitution.

The Prime Minister condemned the “shehzaada,” referring to Rahul Gandhi, for looking down on Indians based on their appearance and vowed not to tolerate such racist attitudes. He also mentioned efforts by the Congress to defeat President Droupadi Murmu, who comes from a tribal background.

Modi further criticized an unnamed “uncle” in America, supposedly advising Rahul Gandhi like a cricket umpire, suggesting a lack of independence in Gandhi’s decision-making.

PM Modi Calls for Unity Amidst Skin Color Controversy

Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of opposing President Droupadi Murmu because of her skin color. He questioned why the Congress was so determined to defeat her, highlighting her strong reputation and Adivasi background.

Modi also criticized Sam Pitroda, whom he referred to as the “American uncle,” for making remarks about skin color. Pitroda had suggested that people from the North East resemble the Chinese, sparking controversy. However, Pitroda emphasized unity among people of diverse appearances, stating that despite differences, Indians have lived together peacefully for decades.

In summary, PM Modi criticized Congress for its stance on Droupadi Murmu and condemned Pitroda’s comments on skin color, emphasizing the importance of unity regardless of appearance.

Congress Responds

The BJP criticized Sam Pitroda’s comment as racist and divisive, saying it showed his limited understanding of India and its culture. According to BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, Pitroda suggested that since the Congress leadership came from foreign origins, they viewed Indians across the country as outsiders. This, Trivedi argued, reflects a clash over India’s identity.

He compared this mindset to that of the Mughals and British, who made Indians feel like foreigners in their own land. Meanwhile, the Congress denounced Pitroda’s analogies as unfortunate and unacceptable, with senior leader Jairam Ramesh distancing the party from them.
