Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Kuwait’s highest honor, the Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, on Sunday. This marks the 20th international award he has received from a foreign country.

The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer is Kuwait’s top knighthood, given to heads of state, foreign sovereigns, and royal family members as a symbol of friendship.

PM Modi expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored to receive the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order from His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah. I dedicate this honor to the people of India and to the strong friendship between our nations.”

Notable previous recipients include former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, as well as Prince Charles.

In addition, last month, PM Modi was awarded Guyana’s highest national distinction, The Order of Excellence, during his visit. He thanked Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali, stating, “I am deeply grateful for this award, a testament to our strong bond, which will continue to inspire us to collaborate in all areas.”

PM Modi was also honored with the Dominica Award of Honour by President Sylvanie Burton. He dedicated the award to the 140 crore people of India, sharing his appreciation on social media.

On his official visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed with a grand ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Bayan Palace. This event took place as part of his state visit to the Gulf country, where he was greeted with high honor and respect. The Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, was present at the ceremony to mark the special occasion.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of External Affairs shared the details of the visit on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The post highlighted the historic nature of the visit, mentioning, “A special welcome on a historic visit! PM @narendramodi arrives at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait to a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

He was warmly received by HH Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait. Extensive talks with HH the Amir, Crown Prince, and the PM of Kuwait are scheduled ahead.”

The ceremonial Guard of Honour is a traditional gesture of respect and is usually offered to distinguished foreign leaders as part of their welcome. The visit is expected to strengthen the diplomatic and economic ties between India and Kuwait, with discussions between PM Modi and the top Kuwaiti leaders focusing on a range of important issues.
