During a joint media briefing on Operation Sindoor, Vice Admiral AN Pramod shared that the Indian Navy was fully prepared to carry out powerful strikes against select targets at sea and on land, including Karachi. He emphasized that Indian naval forces were strategically positioned in the Arabian Sea and maintained high readiness to act decisively whenever required.
Indian Navy Was Fully Prepared to Hit Targets
Vice Admiral AN Pramod recently revealed that the Indian Navy was completely ready to carry out attacks on important enemy locations during Operation Sindoor, a military mission launched by India against Pakistan. Speaking at a joint press conference with the Army and Air Force, he said that the Navy had carefully planned its strategy and was positioned in a strong and alert state in the Arabian Sea.
He explained that the Indian naval forces were not only ready to strike enemy ships at sea but also prepared to target locations on land, including the important port city of Karachi in Pakistan. According to him, the Navy had both the ability and the confidence to launch attacks at a time of India’s choosing, showing their high level of preparedness and strength.
This statement highlights the serious and strategic approach taken by the Indian Navy to protect the country and respond to any threat during Operation Sindoor.

What Is Operation Sindoor?
On May 7, India carried out Operation Sindoor, a military mission aimed at destroying terrorist hideouts located inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). This action was taken in direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which tragically took the lives of 26 innocent civilians.
As part of the operation, the Indian Army and Air Force worked together to launch precise and well-planned strikes. These attacks were carried out both from the air and from the ground, successfully targeting and destroying a significant amount of terrorist infrastructure across the border. While this was happening, the Indian Navy remained on high alert, ready to support the operation if needed.
This powerful and coordinated response demonstrated India’s strong stand against terrorism and its capability to act swiftly and effectively when national security is threatened.

Indian Navy’s Forward Deployment Kept Pakistan on the Defensive
Vice Admiral AN Pramod shared key insights into India’s strategic approach during Operation Sindoor, highlighting how the Indian Navy’s forward deployment played a crucial role in the mission.
He said that due to the Navy’s strong presence in the Arabian Sea, Pakistani naval forces were forced to stay defensive, mostly remaining inside harbours or close to their coastline. The Indian forces closely watched every movement through continuous monitoring and surveillance.
“The Indian Navy had complete maritime domain awareness throughout the operation,” the Vice Admiral explained. “We knew exactly where the Pakistani naval units were and how they were moving.”
He also emphasized that India’s overall response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians on April 22, was measured, balanced, and responsible, avoiding unnecessary escalation while still sending a strong message to the enemy.
Following the attack, the Navy didn’t just stay on standby. It conducted live-firing exercises, missile launch tests, and combat drills in the Arabian Sea, demonstrating its readiness for any escalation. These actions came after strong statements from top Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who promised “unimaginable punishment” to those responsible.
From the start, all three forces, the Army, Navy, and Air Force, were fully prepared to deliver a powerful response. This military readiness was part of a broader strategy. As tensions rose between India and Pakistan, India took several strong retaliatory steps:
- Holding the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance
- Downgrading diplomatic ties
- Cancelling visas issued to Pakistani nationals
- Shutting Indian airspace to Pakistani flights
- Suspending bilateral trade
- Isolating Pakistan economically and diplomatically
These diplomatic and military actions ultimately led to Operation Sindoor, where India struck hard at terrorist bases inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) to send a clear message: India will not tolerate terrorism and is ready to defend its citizens with full force.
