Delhi Education Minister Cancels Transfer Orders

Delhi Education Minister, Atishi, took decisive action regarding the transfer of 5,000 teachers that had been initiated without her authorization. The issue arose following a circular titled ‘Online requests for transfer of teaching staff of the Directorate of Education,’ which mandated that teachers who had served for more than 10 years in a single school must apply for a transfer.

Failure to comply would result in the Directorate of Education (DoE) transferring them to another school as per the circular issued on June 11.

On July 1, Delhi Education Minister Atishi intervened, issuing a directive that no teacher should be transferred solely due to exceeding the 10-year mark at a specific school. This move came amidst allegations of corruption surrounding the transfers, which Atishi addressed during a press conference.

She expressed concern over the integrity of the process and emphasized her commitment to ensuring fair and transparent policies in educational staffing decisions across Delhi’s schools.

Delhi Education Crisis

Delhi Education Minister recently issued a directive aimed at preventing the arbitrary transfer of teachers solely based on their tenure exceeding 10 years at a particular school. However, her efforts were undermined when nearly 5,000 teachers were unexpectedly transferred on July 2, directly contradicting her instructions.

Speaking at a press conference, the AAP leader expressed deep concern over what she described as evidence of corruption within the Education Department. She promptly took action, instructing the Chief Secretary to immediately revoke the transfer orders and launch a thorough investigation into any potential irregularities or misconduct.

Delhi Education Minister vehemently criticized the transfer orders, labeling them as not only a violation of her explicit instructions but also detrimental to the education system.

She emphasized the pivotal role of these teachers in the success of Delhi government schools, highlighting their efforts in preparing students for prestigious examinations such as IIT entrances and JEE-NEET, where they have consistently outperformed their counterparts in private institutions.

Atishi underscored that the superior academic outcomes of Delhi’s government schools were directly attributable to the dedication and hard work of these educators.

AAP Condemns BJP’s Moves Against Delhi’s Education System

The AAP has criticized the BJP for allegedly trying to disrupt Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s successful education system in Delhi. Senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey highlighted that the BJP-led Centre and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena are planning to transfer over 5,000 teachers from Delhi government schools, potentially destabilizing the city’s education infrastructure.
