Ayodhya Ram Mandir Holiday: On January 22, 2024, many states have granted a day off to their employees to celebrate the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The central government has also declared a half-day for its offices and PSU banks.

According to a notification from the finance ministry, all central government offices, institutions, and industrial establishments will be closed until 2:30 pm on January 22.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Holiday

The upcoming ‘Pran Prathishtha’ event at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22 has led various states and central governments to designate it as a public holiday or half day.

On Thursday, the Department of Personnel and Training declared a Ram Mandir Holiday, stating that all central government offices will be closed for half a day on January 22 to mark the Pran Pratishta ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

Tripura:
All government offices and educational institutions in Tripura are closed until 2:30 pm on January 22 for the celebration of Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya. The directive comes from Asim Sahai, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Tripura.

Chhattisgarh:
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced the closure of all government offices until 2:30 pm on January 22, aligning with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Uttar Pradesh:
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the closure of educational institutions, and liquor shops will be shut throughout the state on the same day.

Madhya Pradesh:
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared a school Ram Mandir Holiday and urged people to celebrate the day like a festival. Additionally, a dry day has been announced, closing all shops, including liquor and Bhang outlets.

Goa:
Government employees and schools in Goa will have a holiday on January 22 due to the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

Haryana:
The Haryana government has declared the closure of schools on January 22 due to the Ram Temple Inauguration. Liquor consumption will not be permitted anywhere in the state on that day.

Odisha:
Odisha government offices will be closed for half a day on January 22 for the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

Assam:
The Assam government declared a half-holiday on January 22 for the Ram temple consecration ceremony. All state government offices and educational institutions will remain closed till 2:30 PM on that day.

Rajasthan:
Rajasthan government declared a half-day Ram Mandir Holiday on January 22 for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Gujarat:
Government offices in Gujarat will be closed for half a day on January 22 to celebrate the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Maharashtra:
The Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday on January 22 to observe the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The decision follows a formal request made by state Cabinet minister and BJP leader Mangal Prabhat Lodha.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Bank Holiday

A PIB announcement reveals that the inauguration ceremony for the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya will be celebrated nationwide on January 22, 2024.

In light of this, to allow employees to join the festivities, the decision has been made to close all Central Government Offices, Institutions, and Industrial Establishments across India until 2:30 pm on the Ram Mandir Holiday. The directive also suggests that all Ministries/Departments of the Government of India inform relevant individuals about this decision.

In practical terms, this implies that public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and regional rural banks will observe a half-day closure until 2:30 pm on January 22. However, private sector banks will remain open, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s schedule designating it as a regular working day.
