This impressive achievement occurred as thousands of earthen lamps were lit along the banks of the Saryu River to celebrate Deepotsav, marking the first celebration since the consecration of the Ram Temple in January.

The records include the most people simultaneously performing ‘diya’ rotation and the largest display of oil lamps.

During the festivities, a total of 2,512,585 oil lamps were lit, organized by the Department of Tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government, and the District Administration. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present to receive the certificates for these remarkable achievements.

As Ayodhya prepares for its first Deepotsav celebration since the consecration of the Ram Mandir, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to attempt a historic Guinness World Record by lighting nearly 2.8 million diyas at the temple on Wednesday.

In addition, another record will be pursued during the aarti at Sarayug Ghat, where 1,100 diyas will be lit with the participation of 1,100 Vedacharyas.

“This is the first Deepotsav after the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and we are making every effort to make this event grand and divine. This year, we aim to set new records. Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be present at the event,” said Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh.

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also attend. We have invited artists from various countries. The highlight this year will be our achievement of lighting 2.8 million diyas, surpassing all previous records. Additionally, the aarti with 1,100 diyas at Sarayug Ghat, accompanied by 1,100 Vedacharyas, will also aim for a new Guinness World Record,” he added.
