“Santosh”
Sandhya Suri’s ‘Santosh’ enters the Un Certain Regard section, promising a mysterious narrative. Shahana Goswami portrays Santosh, a widow thrust into the role of a police constable in rural North India. As she investigates a brutal crime, she finds herself mentored by Inspector Sharma.

“Sunflowers Were The First Ones To Know”
Crafted by FTII students, this short film tackles deeper themes in a village disrupted by a rooster theft. Director Chidananda S Naik’s intriguing title hints at the story’s prophetic twists, leading to the old lady’s family’s exile.

“Manthan”
Shyam Benegal’s classic ‘Manthan’ returns to Cannes in a restored version, celebrating the pioneering milk cooperative movement. Starring iconic names like Smita Patil and Naseeruddin Shah, it’s a tribute to India’s socio-economic progress.

“Sister Midnight”
Directed by Karan Kandhari, this darkly humorous tale follows Uma, a woman navigating married life in a Mumbai slum. Fueled by revenge, her journey is both captivating and original.

“Shameless”
Though Bulgarian, Konstantin Bojanov’s romantic drama shot in India features Indian talent and captures a spot in the Un Certain Regard section, adding a unique flavor to the festival.

“In The Retreat”
Maisam Ali, a Ladakh native born in Iran, makes history as the first Indian filmmaker featured in the ACID section, promoting independent cinema with his film.

“Bunnyhood”
Mansi Maheshwari’s animated masterpiece ‘Bunnyhood’ earns recognition in the La Cinef category. Born in Meerut and trained in London, Maheshwari’s graduation project delights audiences with its charm and creativity.

When to Watch Cannes Film Festival 2024?

The 77th Cannes Film Festival is happening from May 14 to May 25, 2024, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. During these dates, chosen films will be shown across different categories. The festival starts with the opening ceremony on May 14 and concludes with the closing ceremony on May 25, where the winners will be announced.

Greta Gerwig, a filmmaker and actress, will lead the jury in picking the winners from 22 competing films. The festival’s hours are 8 am to 8 pm for the opening ceremony (11:30 am to 11:30 pm IST), and from May 15 to May 25, it’s 9 am to 6 pm (12:30 pm to 9:30 pm IST).
